Preschool

Today Cole and I visited the preschool where he will be going two mornings a week this fall. We both were excited about it, though I know I am going to have a hard time leaving him the first few times. He asked if I would be going with him to school, and when I said no, he said, "I don't want to go to school." I just can't believe he is almost 3 years old! I still see him as my little baby, and I know he still needs me so much, but it will be fun to see him go off for some adventures at school. I will be so excited to hear about the things he does! I'm sure he will have some great stories. I think it will also be good for Noah and me to have some one on one time.

It's been pretty hot lately, but we still have enjoyed getting out for walks most nights with the boys. They always enjoy feeding the turtles and ducks in the pond by our house. We have also been swimming alot and are trying to encourage Cole to try to swim. He is so timid, which I am not all that upset about, but I would feel better if he could swim.
Today, Noah did not want to take a nap and was crying in his crib. Cole started carrying around his stuffed dinosaur, and he told me that it was his "baby" and that he was rocking him and trying to settle him down. It was really cute, and he was so tender with his baby. I asked him if he needed a pacifier for his baby, and he said, totally seriously, "Mommy, it's just pretend; he's not real." So funny!

A Day in Our Home

My sister had a blog entry a month or so ago that showed pictures of scenes from around her house that she wanted to remember from this time in life. It almost made me cry when I read it, and then today when I found Cole's Animal Train parked in my closet, I decided to do the same thing. This is such a special time in our lives, and I sometimes forget to stop and enjoy these moments amidst all the chaos and sleep deprivation.
Cole loves to play on "Mommy and Daddy's Bed." Any opportunity we get, we wrestle on the bed, make pillow mountains, make ice cream shops, get under the covers to make a tent, etc. I think Cole just enjoys the one on one attention with us, as he always tells me that Noah needs to go in the swing while we play on the bed because "he doesn't like the bed." Almost weekly, playing on the bed with Daddy results in Cole throwing up from laughing so hard :)
Right now in our living room there is an exer-saucer, a bouncer chair, a swing, a play mat, Elmo, Curious George, and a pile of laundry. Sometimes it seems that we are being crowded out by baby gear and toys, but it is such the picture of our life right now.
Cole loves making "water footprints" on his bath mat when he gets out of the tub. I took a picture of his little feet the other night.

More Cole

Very Cole

Cole has such a wonderful personality. These pictures and the ones to follow capture some of it. He loves birthdays and really enjoys singing "Happy Birthday," as is evident in the pictures from James' party. He went through this stage where he hated having his picture taken (the swing picture above), but since I have been taking more pictures of Noah, he now wants me to take some of him too. He always does something goofy . . . see the next post of pictures :)

The Boys at Home

Cole and Noah already have so much fun playing together. Cole is always very proud to introduce Noah to new people too. Today we had some friends over for a playdate, and he kept trying to show his little 2 year old friend to Noah. Cole hates it when Noah cries, and I frequently catch him standing on the side of the crib looking at Noah and saying, "It's okay, Noah, Mommy is coming." I certainly have been blessed with two very sweet children!
